A small quantity of the right ingredients.

What is Super compost?

Super compost can be thought of as a small quantity of the right ingredients achieving the same results as a large quantity of mixed right and wrong ingredients.

Plants respond to stimuli provided by nature or artificially by humans. Seeds germinate when they come into contact with water. A shoot requires nourishment—such as food, heat, light, and moisture—to thrive. If the mix is right, the shoot will prosper; if wrong, it may grow but not reach its full potential. Commercial vegetable growers often use industrial chemicals to boost their yields. Without these methods, supermarket shelves might remain empty. Fixed nitrogen, synthetic herbicides, and pesticides are commonly used by large-scale producers to ensure uniform crops and profitable returns. Small-scale veggie growers, however, have a different perspective on ideal vegetables.

We aim for produce that is free from industrial chemicals and doesn't rely on artificial boosts. Yet, we still need a little help to enhance the yield of our "precious plants."

Historically, one of the most reliable methods has been adding animal manure to the soil. Early farmers were amazed at how it improved their crop growth.

The alternative for small-scale growers is the organic route. Ideally, the vegetable food (manure compost) should come from animals raised by the producers to ensure complete control over the process. The hay-feed should be organic, and any wormers used should also be organic or natural products with a short lifespan. The manure should be composted over a long period using natural methods like aerobic bacteria, warmth, moisture, and air. This fine composted material is then hand-turned with a fork to lighten and dry it, followed by further maturing.

The final result? Supercompost!
